Self-Service Shelf

The “The Way Out” Self-Service Shelf for children, young people, and families invites visitors to touch and participate in art as well as to explore working artistically in a playful way.

The herbst Education team has gathered objects and materials related to every art object in this year’s festival. These objects are located in an open shelf in the Visitor and Press Center at Murgasse 6, waiting to be discovered by the public.

The contents of the shelf range from a knight’s helmet to a megaphone, from plastic garbage and neon signs to six black Friesian horses, dolls, and pictures. Short explanations placed in the shelf spaces explain the objects’ contexts and offer starting points for discussion and imagination.
